Qualified? My Interpretation:
Under the “About” page I promised to explain why I am suddenly experimenting with content – and by the way, I am loving it so far – it’s as therapeutic as it’s been satisfying!
I graduated from college with a Chemistry degree and went right into my career in research and development of pharmaceutical drugs, devices, and biologics. During these past 35 years in the industry, I successfully worked myself through the ranks and various roles with “big-pharma”, small biotech companies, and contracting organizations into a high profile position. I’ve learned a wealth of skill sets along my development and since this is a fast-paced ever-changing evolving arena, I have been challenged and never bored or unsatisfied. That said, let me also be frank in telling you this has been a profession marked solely by already defined processes, guidelines, laws, and regulations with little to no room for creativeness. Unapologetically, this is where I share that although rewarding in so many ways, there have been moments I lacked complacency.
During my early childhood while testing for educational competencies, I was diagnosed with a high functioning brain and use both sides equally with the ability to disassociate and distinguish situationally when required. You may be wondering why this is important. Well, let me explain! Studies suggest, the left side of the brain is verbal, analytical, and detailed oriented. Whereas the right side is more visual, intuitive, and creative. I often credit my scientific, analytical, and orderly drive for sending me down this career path. Perhaps, it was out of respect for my parents (since they paid for my degree entirely) or the fact I feared falling short in life and this seemed like a prosperous trajectory. BUT….have you ever felt like you should be doing something else? That’s been my ‘itch’ for years! I yearned for a more creative outlet. Yes, I’ve been inventive with PowerPoint presentations as well as leading teams and meetings globally – yada yada. I’m talking about the type of creativity that comes with freedom of speech that allows me to be expressive (or as my husband refers to it ‘dramatic’) as well as use of the imagination and ideas to bring something to life. Creativity is defined as a tendency to generate alternatives or possibilities that may be useful in solving problems, communicating, and entertaining ourselves and others. That was my lightbulb moment!
Like everyone else and the rest of us, I’ve been drawn by social media. Platforms with tools that allow people to create, share, and exchange information with others – otherwise known as ‘content’ creation. Referring you back to the definition of creativity, I accepted this resource as my means for communicating with friends, family, acquaintances, and anyone else interested in what currently sets my heart on fire – sort of speak – so the idea was easy! I’ve known for years that if I was ever going to bring something to life, it was MOST definitely going to be my sense of style and my zest for this life I am living which right now includes the rewarding challenges that come along with loving my dog. All because I hold in high regard each and every compliment I’m given whether regarding an outfit I’ve styled or in reference to the ways I manage Emma’s condition. Come to think of it, if I had a penny for all the times….well, you know!
You may be wondering what are my qualifications for this blog initiative. Well, let me be HONEST! The confidence to start this idea to create content related to my current life experiences came from the indebted accolades received through the years from family, friends, and even more strangers than people I actually know as acquaintances. It was in the countless instances when I was asked for details on a look I put together, told I had an impeccable eye for fashion, and/or flawless style. When I was asked for guidance on dog care based on my ownership of what seems to have been ‘by faith’, three ‘hard’ female Labrador Retrievers – that put us through the wringer with vet visits for heat stroke, gastrointestinal twisting, cancer, and everything in between. It was in the nomination and ‘Queen Bee Fashionista’ award status received from my Pure Barre Wilmington family. AND it was in the calls, texts, and messages after some of you sent referrals my way for sharing our personal encounter managing Emma’s situational constraints and circumstances. I can go on and on with the regard and grace I’ve been given!

The bottom line is that with this context interpretation, in sort of having a vantage point when it comes to my inspirational passions and interests (fashion, style, and my love for dogs), I felt a sense of needing to put put it all down in black and white. Not in an obligatory manner, but in recognition and appreciation of the knowledge and familiarity gained from living through exciting, well-versed, eventful, adventured, events that may someday be helpful to others – especially those of you keeping up with these blog posts. Thank you for your interest and reading. I promise to always be ‘UNAPOLOGETICALLY ME’!
